George Hargreaves

'Hargreaves Jones has been at the forefront of landscape architecture and planning since 1983 and is globally renowned for the transformation of urban sites, waterfronts, and campuses into iconic landscapes.'

'Our offices in New York City, San Francisco, and Cambridge work collectively, united by a belief in the power of expressive and responsive design to create enduring landscapes for communities, institutions, and individuals.'

'We approach each project as an opportunity to reveal the unique qualities of a place: whether amplifying the natural phenomena of a site, expressing historic narratives, transforming infrastructural impediments into public realm opportunities, or encouraging individual interpretation and discovery.'

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, United Kingdom:
This park hosted the London Olympics in 2012. The huge red structure is very industrial and links to the the red poppies planted and the colours of the British flag. From the photos there seems to be a lack of space for pedestrians to walk along and places to sit. The planting is an odd mix of grass, sweeping grasses, flowers and trees which seems to lack direction and a clear theme.

2019 World Horticulture Expo, Beijing, China:
The planting design for this site is very aesthetically pleasing. The curving hedges, sweeps of different plants and colours, and curved benches create an inviting space. The bordering of the site with trees creates an enclosed feel.
